Scottie Reynolds Officially "Tests the Waters" of the NBA Draft, But Retains Right to Withdraw and Return to Villanova for Senior Season

To the Villanova Wildcats faithful-

Junior guard Scottie Reynolds, the hero of the Elite Eight victory over Pittsburgh, and who would be Villanova's primary scoring weapon if he returns for his senior season, announced this afternoon that he would test the waters for NBA interest and declared himself eligible for the NBA draft.

Think that's the right thing for Scottie to do -- test the waters, see what's out there.

Who knows? Maybe that amazing shot at end of Pitt game gets him into the first round?

If so, good for him. If not, back for another year.

  2. Hello, Seamus-

I agree that Reynolds is making the right decision, in terms of testing the waters. He's allowed to withdraw and return to Villanova, as long as he does it by June 15 and he doesn't hire an agent (more on that in the other post...)

    In terms of actually leaving-

There's a case to be made that his NBA stock might have peaked, as a result of The Shot against Pitt. And your speculation that it might be enough to boost him into the first round - that could very well happen...

On the other hand, there seems to be a perception (I don't know how true it is) that he won't be drafted at all, and if so, not in the first round... in that case, I would think it would make sense for him to come back and see if he can boost his stock even higher...

    Go Wildcats!
